An infection with a yeast-like fungus of the Candida family, generally Candida albicans. Candidiasis of the oesophagus, trachea, bronchi, or lungs is an indicator disease for AIDS. Oral or recurrent vaginal candida infection is an early sign of immune system deterioration.
