Arrive alive!
Part of the series : Motion in One Dimension
During this lesson a traffic officer discusses factors that relate to accidents on our roads, and how the skid
marks made by a car during braking are used to estimate the initial speed of the car. Learners then design an
experiment to estimate reaction time.
After the lesson, learners could make posters on various aspects of road safety that they have researched. For
example, a table of driving speeds and corresponding distances travelled during the reaction time, statistics of
road accidents in their province, and the effectiveness of various safety features in cars.
